The South West Model Engineering, Model Making and Hobbies Exhibition @ The Royal Bath & West Show Ground, Shepton Mallet Saturday 16th April 2011, 10am – 5pm Sunday 17th April 2011, 10am – 4.30pm
Pete Waterman, OBE opening the 2010 show The 2010 event has been a great success all round, with more than 10,000 visitors over the two days and a larger number of trade and club stands than ever before. Since the inaugural event in 2008 the show has grown by 170% in size and the visitor numbers have increased by 67% showing that there is a real need and passion for this event which caters for all members of the hobby community. Visitors to the event were amazed by the displays which took place over the two days including remote control planes, tanks, trains, boats and cars. They were entertained by an Audience with the Daleks, one of the largest gatherings of Daleks in the UK which took place on the Sunday in front of a large crowd of excited and amazed onlookers. Enthusiasts could stock up on new parts, and buy new models to add to their collections. Families enjoyed a great day out in the sun and found interests in new hobbies that children and their parents could share. Pete Waterman, OBE, who opened the event and was book signing over the two days said "I had a great weekend at the show. The event successfully catered for such a range of different hobbies and the crowds could not help but be amazed by everything on offer. I can see the event going from strength to strength and wish it all the success for the future."
