Model Engineering

Buckinghamshire Garden Railway Society who exhibited with us in 2008 picked up the prize for 'Best Moving Model' and it was well deserved for their G-Scale 'white leaf light railway' stood 66' in length and 19' wide and really did attract a continuous crowd over the 2 days. 

Stirling Engine Society will have a varied selection of stirling engines on display at the event and all the engines shown will be in motion throughout the weekend.

Salisbury & District Model Engineering Society cover a broad canvas, ranging from 3 1/2" and 5" gauge steam and electric locomotives and other miniature gauges.  Sundials, machine tooling, fine scale aeroplanes, helicopters and model boats, stationary steam engines to whatever your interests happen to be. Here are just a couple examples of their models which may be on display

Adam Best will be displaying his 4" scale Model Foster Agricultural Engine built in 2001.

Alan Cunningham will be displaying his 4" scale Traction Engine.

Bob Dennis will have his 3" case Traction Engine in full steam - The Engine is 18' long with 8' trailer and if your really nice he may even take you for a ride on it

   

East Somerset Society of Model & Experimental Engineers, ESSMEE (Bath & West Railway) www.essmee.org.uk are situated on site at the Royal Bath and West Showground.  The ESSMEE  have a full half mile of track that will take 5” and 7 1/4” locomotives from a massive Tinkerbell design to a small 0 4 0 Tich class. 

Rides will be open to the public both days of the show on the track which spans the on site lake crossing two bridges on its journey. (Drop offs will be available for those who wish to watch the 
boats being sailed on the lake). Plans are afoot to build a tunnel later this year along with developing the yard with six more steaming bays, a lift and a turntable.  

For those interested, facilities for Locomotives to use this track are available subject to the presentation of boiler certificates and by arrangment.  Traction Engines will also be accommodated on the many firm surfaces available. 




 
THE GUILD OF MODEL WHEELWRIGHTS

The Guild of Model Wheelwrights is greatly honoured in having Prince Philip as its Patron for it is an amateur organisation devoted to making precision scale model horse-drawn vehicles and other vehicles relative to the horse-drawn age. These include carriages, agricultural vehicles, commercial and utility vehicles, velocipedes, wheelbarrows, market stall barrows, horses and room displays.
